From Zhiwei “A bit more about Awareness Through Movement (ATM) lesson if you are not familiar: it's usually a 45-minute lesson where people are often times on the ground and doing relaxed, mindful movements following instructions. The idea behind this is to increase self-awareness of how one organizes their movements so they can find the most efficient ways to move with the least effort. It also helps with chronic pain and muscle fatigue not by stretching but by finding skeletal support so the muscles can relax.

This method has been used in the athletic field (e.g. training Olympians) with measurable success (here's an introductory article). If I will have the honor to teach with the gym, I'd like to offer lesson topics helpful to climbers such as 1) connecting the feet to the whole body 2) differentiating hip joints and the pelvis to be more flexible 3) exploring more areas of the back for new sources of power 4) releasing eye & jaw tension to relax the shoulder...and so much more. The possibility is limitless!”
